Case Description

 Preoperative Symptoms：
Vertical maxillary excess, upper jaw grows too much vertically
Underdevelopment of the lower margin of the eye socket

Surgical Plan：
Bi-jaw orthognathic surgery
Custom-made infra-orbital rim implant
This patient came to us for solving his VME (vertical maxillary excess, upper jaw grows too much vertically) and infraorbital hollowness (underdevelopment of the lower margin of the eye socket). We planned a bi-jaw orthognathic surgery with custom-made infra-orbital rim implant to decrease the excessive vertical facial height, help a closed mouth posture, and soften the prominent eye appearance. At the same time we advanced the lower jaw a little bit more to correct the deep bite malocclusion without a post-operative orthodontics. The orthognathic surgery helped him to relax his lips, improved his smile and infra-orbital reconstruction made him look more energetic and spirited.
