He is a typical patient diagnosed of moderate obstructive sleep apnea (AHI = 22.9)(ESS = 14 meaning excessively sleepy) with a receding chin-jaw and symptoms of sleep fragmentation. He was prescribed of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) but ended with intolerance. Considering the comprehensive treatment goals of highest success rate, facial aesthetics and bite function, he decided to undergo combined orthodontics-orthognathics approach (counter-clock wise maxillo-mandibular advancement)(CCW-MMA). 6 months post-op AHI = 2.7 (meaning cured) and ESS = 2 (meaning not abnormally sleepy). He is satisfied with the aesthetics improvement coming along with the treatment as well.
