There is orthodontic treatment for moon face, however the treatment resulted a typical facial shape that Dr. Hsieh named it as “normal occlusion with under bite and drooping mouth (Face Class III Dental Class I). The treatment plan was required to be performed without changing the normal occlusion function for the patient. The upper and lower jaws were rotated (clock-wise) to shorten the face. The corner of her mouth was pulled up while the lower jaw moved backward. In addition, V-line chin contouring was performed for a pointy chin. Five months after the surgery, the under bite had improved while her smile shows the desired upward mouth curve that seems sweet and pleasing. Her now V-line chin lines fit the modern aesthetic attractiveness. Dr. Hsieh insists that facial treatments should always be Face-Oriented Treatment and not merely just Bite-Oriented Treatment.
