1. The back of the head is flat, and the head shape lines collapse from the sides.

2. The patient has been troubled by hair style for a long time.

Occiput Augmentation

Our patient with previous custom forehead implant came back to us asking custom occipital (occiput) implant augmentation for correction of his “flat” back of the head. Dr. Hsieh found there is an interesting trend that the shape of the whole cranium (forehead: the front of the head/ occiput: the back of the head) is getting increasing attention by the patients nowadays. As many people may already know that Dr. Hsieh’s preferred method for skeleton augmentation is through CAD/CAM (computer designed and custom made) which have many more advantages over intra-operative manual-molded bone cement method. He has relatively very short recovery after the surgery (around 7~10 days). As you can see in the before and after photos and CTs, he got a much rounded and projected head shape with nearly perfect symmetry and smoothness owing to the computer-aided design pre-fabricated implant. But he regretted that he didn’t have the forehead and occiput done in the same operation.
