The difference between Dr.Hsieh's forehead contouring surgery and conventional forehead augmentation

There exist always easier andmore complicated procedures in any cosmetic surgery fora surgeon to choose to perform. Patients not aware of the fact are usually attracted by procedures thatshowimmediate visible improvementwithout knowing the fact that the surgeon might not take the long-term outcome into consideration. Therefore it is not uncommonto findsomesurgical improvements not lasting long or even getting worse than in the past.

In recent years there were quite some patients, who received different kinds of easy foreheadaugmentation surgery and the surgical improvement failed to last, came to Dr. Hsieh and asked for help. All these surgical failures came from the pervious surgeon's underestimation of the complexity of foreheadcosmetic surgery. For example, simply fillingup the sunken area with implants might only announcethe unnatural surgical results. Dr. Hsieh's forehead contouring surgery not only simply plumps up the forehead but also takes the surroundinghairline, temples, brow bones and eyes into consideration. Dr. Hsieh seeks to create a long-lasting and natural volumized forehead contour with invisible postoperative scar.

Figure 1 shows the problem caused by "easy plastic job". The implant used in the conventional foreheadaugmentation surgery is not tailored made to fit individual patient's need but the cost is relatively low. As the implant has its own curvature and shape memory, the surgeon has to bend the implant to make it "temporally"fit closely to the underlyingfrontal bone structure. At the beginning the implantcan gives quite fine results as desired. However as soon as the implant gradually reverts to its original shape, the poor conformation of the implant to the curved surface of the bone becomes embarrassingly visible.

Figure 2 shows the result of surgical procedure aiming only at the central region of the forehead. The augmentation effect didn't cover the area of temples and brow bones. The forehead looks instead even narrower and disproportional to the whole face.
